St James’ Catholic High School London

Monday, March 17th, 2014

Aquinas Education paid a visit to the St James’ High School in London last week to take part in the schools ‘Deep Learning Day’. Craig Anderson(Managing Director), Ryan Miller(Senior Consultant) and Jermaine Jenas(Business partner Aquinas) all went along to support the staff and students for the day.

The children were all off timetable for the day and the school had arranged a fun filled, jam packed day of events including Jermaine and the Aquinas team. They had local dancers from the church giving a performance, guest speakers including rehabilitated ex offenders giving positive motivational talks as well as many other exciting inspirational opportunities for the children. The day was a massive success and Aquinas were very pleased to be a part of it.

Jermaine helped some of the students with some IT work, he joined in with PE sessions, he helped to run a session on RE talking about Nature/Nurture with a meaningful discussion being raised about whether his Footballing career was always the path he was going to follow or whether it was due to his hard work and dedication.

The day was to help the children to stay on track, to keep focussed, positive and to be guided in the right direction.

“Thank you for your generosity with your time and expertise yesterday. your input and work with our students and staff very much helped secure a very successful ‘Deep Learning Day’ for all concerned. Yesterday was an extremely positive learning opportunity for our students and having visitors to enrich and support this opportunity was invaluable. We have already had a great deal of feedback from staff and students who agree with my view, and tell of the fun and enjoyment they had, whilst undertaking their different learning activities.” Niamh Arnull (Head Teacher)

Aquinas Education/Foundation will be supporting The St James’ Catholic School in London and we hope to be involved with many more upcoming events!!

Aquinas Senior Consultant takes part in Guiness World Record.

Wednesday, March 5th, 2014

Our Senior Consultant Ryan Miller was witness last week to a record breaking challenge set by Southwark Primary School in Basford Nottingham, to beat the Guiness world record for the most people modelling clay in one venue at one time. 174 pupils took part on the day and it was a successful achievement for the children and the school,  one child told Ryan “This is the best day ever!!!” the students had a great time.

Firstly they were able to watch a big screen where they could see a professional potter giving examples of what the children could make with the clay and when the time began they had 5 minutes to make something of their choice.

Ryan’s favourite piece was a clay snail, “In 5 minutes she had done a brilliant job,  it was a very detailed piece of work in such a short space of time!”

On behalf of the Aquinas Foundation I would like to say a huge congratulations to Southwark school… keep up the inspiring work!
